THE DOWNLOW MAGAZINE
Not to be confused with another magazine called Downlow that started up in the UK in the early 90's, this one above, The Downlow Magazine, is from Milwaukee, USA, the debut issue dated 1997.
It was more or less a hip hop culture presentation, so featured things like interviews with rap and graf artists, record reviews, graffiti galleries and other related articles.
Their record review pages covered hip hop, mix tapes, jungle and drum & bass in the main.
The example underneath the cover is just one of the review pages to give you an idea of the kind of content Downlow dealt with.
One of the albums mentioned is a drum & bass compilation called Avantgardism which was released in December 1996 on Rising High International.
So I have accompanied the review with the CD cover plucked out of my own shelves at home.
