STRAIGHT NO CHASER MAGAZINE
What better way to get "Raider Of The Lost Racks" into action than to kick things off with Straight No Chaser magazine.
SNC first appeared back in 1988 just as the Acid Jazz scene was starting to hit UK dancefloors, and accordingly it covered jazz, African, funk & Latin in the main but as music developed along the way it also incorporated other styles like hip hop, leftfield grooves, drum & bass, electronica and so on.
They had a brilliant team of journalists, photographers and graphic designers on board, always keeping things upbeat, cool & streetwise. They didn't restrict it to UK's club scene either as they also had offices in Tokyo, Hamburg and New York, so everyone knew what was happening on the dancefloors around the planet.
However, all good things must come to an end and it eventually ran its course and shut shop a few years ago - 2 decades after flying the Freedom Principle flag.
The top image is from a 1998 issue when they were celebrating their 10th anniversary - it shows a parade of some of their past covers - and the snippet underneath it is an SNC statement making known their standpoint.
